Drill Hole Geophysical Logging explains the use of geophysical probes to record rock characteristics at regular intervals along the depth of a drill hole. The manual:
- discusses types of probes, how they work and their uses
- includes practice problems and case studies
This kit is designed to help students in years for to ten to learn more about their planet and being able to identify minerals and there uses.
The laboratory kit contains:
- 12 mineral specimens
- Mineral testing gear
The revised second edition of the Mineral identification and Uses Lab book includes:
- information on how to identify mineral samples and mineral identification chart
- information on mineral uses and products
- a South Australian Mineral Resources Map
- mineral identification sheet that can be copied for student use within the classroom.

Resources - Working for the right balance
A multimedia educational kit designed for students from eight to 15 years of age. The kit has been developed by the department with input from a team of educators and industry representatives.
Topics covered include:
- Importance of minerals
- Environmental management in the resources industry
- Using earth resources
- Employment and careers
- Finding the right balance
- Exploration, mining and processing
The eight topics are presented in a range of mediums within the comprehensive kit. A different approach is utilised in each, so as to bring out new facets of learning processes each time.
Multimedia components of the kit include:
- Highly interactive CDrom that can be used as an electronic blackboard for teacher-directed instruction or for student-centred individual progression style learning, (This CDrom has been awarded the prestigious Serif Award)
- Eight topic video that can be used to introduce each topic by bringing the outside world into the classroom or as a summary at the end of studying a topic
- Teacher's Guide with overhead projector (OHP) masters and teacher background reading information and Student Worksheets Book with student worksheets for photocopying, experiments and role play games
First copy of kit is free to South Australian schools. Additional copies for other schools and organisations can be purchased for $55.00 plus a cost for postage and handling.

The Geological Timescale presents a time line spanning the entire history of the earth to which geological and evolutionary events can be tied.
The quantity of time elapsed since the formation of the earth is near-unimaginable.
The earth is believed to be 4.56 billion years old. Relationships between rock units, terranes and continents as well as the evolution of life have unifying reference – the Geological Timescale.
The Geological Timescale starts at 3.8 billion years ago and continues to the present.
