Nominations are now open for the 2016 Premier’s Community Excellence Awards in Mining and Energy.
Premier Jay Weatherill said the awards recognise the social contribution mining and energy companies make to South Australian communities.
“Mining and energy companies are not only major employers of South Australians. Many go above and beyond to contribute to the wellbeing of communities, workplace diversity and social inclusion – particularly in regional areas,” Mr Weatherill said.
“Now in their sixth year, these awards acknowledge resources companies who are leading in programs that break the cycle of social disadvantage, foster community participation and promote workforce diversity.
“Considering the challenges the sector is facing, it is important we recognise the commitment these resource companies are showing the communities they work in.”
All companies in South Australia engaged with exploration, production, and supplying services to the mining and energy sectors, are encouraged to apply.
This year’s awards include three categories:
- Excellence in Social Inclusion
- Excellence in Supporting Communities
- Excellence in Leadership – Women in Resources
A judging panel comprising representatives from government, industry and community organisations will assess the entries.
The winners will be announced at the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME) Annual Resources Industry Dinner on Wednesday, 20 April 2016.
Entries close Friday 18 March, 2016.
