Mining operation

The Siviour Graphite Project on the proposed ML will consist of:

  • an open cut graphite mine pit
  • a mineral processing plant and associated supporting infrastructure, including crushing facilities
  • an Integrated Waste Landform (IWL)
  • topsoil, subsoil and ore stockpiles; and
  • access roads including internal plant and mine roads.

Tenement application status

Mineral claim MC 4462 was registered to Ausmin on 7 August 2018 over an area of 1611 hectares.

Registration of an MC establishes a right to apply for an ML and does not give any right to develop a mine.

Current tenement information

Ausmin currently hold Mineral Claim MC 4462 for the Siviour Graphite Project.

Mining lease application

Ausmin submitted a mining lease application to the Department for Energy and Mining on 28 August 2018.

On 19 September 2018, the Minister for Energy and Mining published the mining lease application and sought written submissions from members of the public in relation to the application.

The period for public comment closed on the 18 October 2018.

The Department for Energy and Mining has requested Ausmin provide a response to the public submission and other technical matters raised by government agencies.  A copy of the letter can be found here:

The Minister for Energy and Mining is required to have regard to the submissions in determining whether to grant or refuse the application and, if so, the terms and conditions on which it should be granted.
