The deposit An iron oxide – copper-gold (IOCG) deposit hosted in a brecciated granite complex, mostly chalcopyrite with a central high grade bornite zone
Mining operation
  • Underground mining process called sub-level caving where the deposit is blasted then collected by loaders, crushed, and loaded onto a conveyor belt that transports the ore up to the surface
  • Ore will be processed onsite to produce concentrate
  • Concentrate will undergo further processing through a concentrate treatment plant

Application and assessment process OZ Minerals Carrapateena Pty Ltd and OZM Carrapateena Pty Ltd (collectively referred to as OZ Minerals) submitted a mineral lease (ML) application and three miscellaneous purposes licence (MPL) applications on 26 May 2017 for the purposes of carrying out mining operations for the recovery of copper, gold and silver and the construction of ancillary infrastructure associated with the proposed mining lease (if granted).
